The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has alleged that a convict sentenced to life imprisonment in the murder case of late BJD leader Abhimanyu Sahu has resumed criminal activities after being released on bail. The party alleged that a reign of terror is prevailing in Titilagarh under the patronage of the local BJP MLA, with the convict operating freely despite being released on conditional bail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing a press conference at Sankha Bhawan today, former Minister and Senior General Secretary Smt. Tukuni Sahu and Senior General Secretary Shri Bhrugu Buxipatra stated that lawlessness is prevailing in Titilagarh under the protection of the ruling party MLA. They alleged that the Titilagarh Police Station has become a hub for anti-social elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Smt. Sahu stated that a convict sentenced to life imprisonment in the murder case of late BJD leader Abhimanyu Sahu, after obtaining conditional bail from the Supreme Court, has once again established a crime syndicate in Titilagarh. Due to the terror unleashed by jail-returned criminals, ordinary citizens are afraid to approach the police and register cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Similarly, Shri Buxipatra alleged that the local BJP MLA is responsible for the reign of terror in Titilagarh. He stated that hooliganism, extortion, and land grabbing are being carried out under the direct patronage of the MLA. According to him, two criminals convicted in the murder of late BJD leader Abhimanyu Sahu and subsequently released on conditional bail by the Supreme Court are being aided by the local BJP MLA in running a crime syndicate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further alleged that although the conditions of their bail prohibit them from entering Titilagarh town, both accused have been residing in Titilagarh for the past one year and have been continuing their criminal activities unchecked. The local police, he said, have remained silent spectators to these developments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shri Buxipatra further stated that yesterday, the Superintendent of Police (SP), Balangir, personally intervened in the matter and arrested the two accused. Therefore, BJD has demanded that the senior IPS officer in charge of Balangir district and the IG of Police, Western Range, immediately take cognizance of the seriousness of the matter and initiate steps to seek cancellation of the bail granted to the two accused for violating the conditions imposed by the court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The party has also demanded that the local BJP MLA be brought under the ambit of investigation over allegations that he threatened victims not to lodge FIRs at the police station.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
